Calling all Project Tongariro Supporters!
As the dates for our upcoming fundraising events draw nearer, we still need additional helping hands to ensure the success of these events. If you haven't had a chance to sign up yet or if you know someone who might be interested in volunteering, now is the perfect time to get involved!
There is Ski Club style accommodation available for 2 nights, a packed lunch for the day's marshalling and a post event BBQ dinner is on offer to all volunteers! So grab that mate you've been meaning to catch up with for a while and spend a weekend away in Tongariro National Park!

The Goat

Project Tongariro provides volunteer course marshals and BBQ team who look after participants when they cross the finish line.
Volunteer Options:
Whakapapa side marshal @ The Goat Tongariro. Required to attend a briefing Friday night in Ohakune from 19:30 hrs. Required to walk in/out from the Bruce Road/RTM Junction above Scoria Flats (walking towards Ohakune Mt Road). Might be on the tracks from 07:00 hrs Saturday, and could be off track as late as 15:00 hrs Saturday. Friday night & Saturday night accommodation is available in Ohakune.
Ohakune side marshal @ The Goat Tongariro. Required to attend a briefing Friday night in Ohakune from 19:30 hrs. Required to walk in/out from the Ohakune Mt Rd/RTM Junction (walking towards Bruce Road). Might be on the tracks from 07:00 hrs Saturday, and could be off track as late as 16:30 hrs Saturday. Friday night & Saturday night accommodation is available in Ohakune.
Project Tongariro BBQ Helper at Turoa Plaza @ The Goat Tongariro. Not required on the Friday, however Friday night & Saturday night accommodation is available in Ohakune if needed. On Saturday the BBQ runs from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm on the Plaza but set-up team will be required earlier than 11.00 am.
Tussock Traverse

Project Tongariro provides volunteer course marshals to cover all positions from Tukino Road right through to the Chateau Tongariro (which includes the Waihohonu Track marshals) and BBQ team who look after participants when they cross the finish line.
VOLUNTEER OPTIONS
SH1 side / Tukino Road side marshal @ The Tussock Traverse. Required to attend a briefing Friday night at Forest and Bird Lodge from 19:00 hrs. Required to walk in/out from the SH1/Waihohonu Track Junction or the Tukino Road/RTM Track Junction (walking towards the Chateau Tongariro). Might be on the tracks from 06:00 hrs/07:00 hrs Saturday, and could be off track as late as 17:00 hrs Saturday. Friday night & Saturday night accommodation is available at the Forest and Bird Lodge.
Chateau Tongariro/Taranaki Falls side marshal @ The Tussock Traverse. Required to attend a briefing Friday night at Forest and Bird Lodge from 19:00 hrs. Required to walk in/out from the Upper or Lower Taranaki Falls Track (walking away from the Chateau Tongariro). Might be on the tracks from 07:00 hrs Saturday, and could be off track as late as 17:00 hrs Saturday. Friday night & Saturday night accommodation is available at the Forest and Bird Lodge
Project Tongariro BBQ Helper at the Chateau Tongariro lawn @ The Tussock Traverse. Not required on Friday, however, Friday night & Saturday night accommodation is available at the Forest and Bird Lodge if needed. On Saturday the BBQ runs from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm on the lawn but a set-up team may be required as early as 8:00 am.
